History

2011-12: Appeared in 44 games for the Boston Jr. Bruins EmJHL team. He had 8 goals and 31 assists for 39 points. Couturier also picked up 26 penalty-minutes. He lead his team in points by a defenseman. Played in 2 EJHL games for the Bruins where he collected 1 assist. He committed to Northeastern University in July of 2012 and was drafted in the USHL by the Des Moines Buccaneers. He was also selected in the QMJHL Entry Draft 167th-overall by the P.E.I. Rocket.

2012-13: Started the season in the USHL with Des Moines and picked up 1 assist in 4 games. Also recorded 8 penalty minutes and a -1 rating. Finished the year on Boston's EJHL team where he potted 2 goals with 8 helpers. Had 48 penalty minutes in 43 games.

2013-14: Appeared in 39 games for the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL. Among defenseman, his 3 goals and 10 assists were good for third-most on the team. He had a +4 rating with 59 penalty minutes. The Buccaneers finished sixth in the Western Conference and did not qualify for the playoffs. In April of 2014, Couturier de-committed from Northeastern University.

Talent Analysis

A little lanky, Couturier excels in 1-on-1 play while also exhibiting very good offensive instincts. He's also a good puck handler. Plays a tough game and owns a strong work ethic. Still fairly young and has time improve. (USPHL Prospects, August 2014)

Couturier will play for the Boston Jr. Bruins Premier team in 2014-15. He is uncommitted.
